This Is The Reason Why Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Honeymoon Location Is Inconsistent

A little over a week ago, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got hitched in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The couple probably planned to have a very private honeymoon.

It was first reported that the couple would be traveling to Namibia, but the plans kept changing.

“The honeymoon destination has changed a few times since they started planning,” royal commentator Omid Scobie told Elle.com last week.

“If a location leaks prior to travel, it compromises their safety on the trip, and they’ll be advised by their protection team to change plans. William and Kate’s protection officers ended up doing recon on two destinations before they settled on the Seychelles for their 2011 honeymoon. I heard that just over a month before the wedding, Harry and Meghan hadn’t even booked a destination, so these plans have come together rather quickly!”

Still, somewhere in Africa seems like a likely choice as it’s been a place of significance in their relationship. In 2017, Harry took Meghan to Botswana for her 36th birthday, a place that they had already vacationed earlier in their relationship.

You know, it’s a very different world here,” said Roger Dugmore, a Botswana-based safari organizer, to Vanity Fair contributor Katie Nicholl for her book Harry: Life, Loss, and Love. “I think what he loved most was the fact that he was really treated like a normal person; he’s just one of the boys. I think he once said, ‘You know, if I could have it another way, I think I’d be a safari guide in Africa.’”

While Kensington Palace has typically kept the world up to date with Harry and Meghan’s agenda, from their engagement to the details of their wedding, the honeymoon date and location will be kept under wraps for the sake of the couple’s privacy and security.

“The honeymoon destination has changed a few times since they started planning,” said Scobie. “If a location leaks prior to travel, it compromises their safety on the trip, and they’ll be advised by their protection team to change plans.”

Read Why Meghan Markle’s Father Will Not Be At The Royal Wedding

Meghan Markle confirmed Thursday that her father will not be present to walk her down the aisle when she marries Prince Harry, in a late announcement hinting at disarray behind Britain’s meticulously planned royal wedding.

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said in a statement issued through Kensington Palace, Harry’s official residence.

Thomas Markle, 73, underwent heart surgery on Wednesday following a paparazzi scandal and a series of U-turns over his intention to attend.

The pre-ceremony fiasco would be enough to derail most weddings, but on Thursday preparations in Windsor, west of London, ploughed ahead with a military dress rehearsal, fine-tuning arrangements ahead of the big day.

The practice session saw military marches and a dry-run of the carriage procession, which will whisk Harry and his bride around the town to greet the crowds after their wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Some 250 members of the armed forces are due to take part in Saturday’s festivities, and diehard royalists are already camping out to secure the best viewing spots along the carriage route.

Until now, Kensington Palace has tightly planned and closely controlled the drip-fed revelations about details of the wedding day.

Thomas Markle’s appearance at the wedding has been under a cloud of doubt throughout the week.

He was originally reported to have pulled out of the ceremony after a paparazzi scandal, where he allegedly posed for a set of staged photos sold for a reported £100,000 (114,000 euros, $135,000) — in a breach of royal etiquette.

Sources told US celebrity news website TMZ that he felt too embarrassed to attend the wedding.

He then signalled his intention to attend after being contacted by Markle via text, according TMZ, but questions remained as he was due to undergo heart surgery with just days to go before the wedding.

Meghan Markle’s statement confirmed that her father will not attend the wedding for health reasons.

“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday,” Meghan Markle added in the statement.

TMZ reported Thursday that Thomas Markle was alert and out of surgery after having stents implanted.

“I’m ok. It will take a long time to heal. Staying in the hospital a few more days,” he told the site.

He has suggested that his ex-wife Doria Ragland, the bride’s mother, would be the best person to stand in and walk her down the aisle.
