Things to consider for your honeymoon

The honeymoon will feel great for an engaged couple if it is well planned. You may be carried away planning the wedding and then forget to plan the honeymoon. You definitely do not want that to happen. Here are things to consider when planning your honeymoon:

  1. Cost – What is the total cost? Do you have enough money saved? Make sure to add enough buffer as the final cost may exceed your expectation. You should pay for your flights, local transportation and accommodation ahead of time as prices may rise due to inflation, demand, and/or exchange rates. You should consider going at a different time if cheaper.
  2. Right time – Do you go right after your wedding or later? Typically, couples go right after their wedding. However, you don’t have to. For instance, you might require more time for a dream destination. You might be in a situation where you have to host/entertain family who traveled great distances to attend your wedding. In such cases, you can schedule for a better time.
  3. Distance – How far do you travel? Do you have enough time to travel a long distance? Such a trip can cut short your actual honeymoon experience at a resort. Also, you have a high chance to miss a connection or lose luggage.
  4. Season/Climate – What is the expected climate at your honeymoon destination? You will want a warm summer weather rather than a cold or rainy weather.
  5. Vacation time – Do you have enough vacation time? If not, perhaps schedule your honeymoon when you have enough time. You should plan to come back at least a day before starting work, in case you miss your flight or have to get over jet lag. You might be better off going to a nearby destination. Also, try not to carry your work. If you have work to do, consider moving the honeymoon.
